Advice for packing backpack is to pack light and if you will need something extra you can buy most of the things on the spot. Also, don’t forget to reserve some space for souvenirs.

Tent and sleeping bags are only necessary if you are planning to camp a lot.  Otherwise if you are considering to camp only few times during your trip you can rent a tent and sleeping bags on campsites. During Salkantay trek to Machu Picchu tent were provided by the travel agency and sleeping bags could be rented with an extra fee.
